We are Verdantly

We are a boutique, woman-owned sustainable buildings consultancy based in New York. Our mission is to enable climate action through aspirational building design that inspires joy and optimism.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe that spaces should leave a positive imprint on people.

The built environment should be designed to respect the “whole” person. Buildings should not only enable intended space use and function, but the time spent in them should also leave a positive imprint on people. They present the opportunity to improve a person’s health, well-being and outlook, and the same driving principles give rise to environmentally conscious design.

While our approach is built upon deep domain expertise in energy and the science of human health and comfort, we are firm believers of using data to empower solutions, not drive design. Furthermore, leveraging the right analysis, at the right time, is paramount to a cost-effective, streamlined design process and ultimately to creating spaces and buildings that people enjoy being in —without harming our environment.

Engineer and Strategist

Linda Lam
Founder, CEO

With 15 years experience in the buildings industry, Linda specializes in the design of comfortable and delightful spaces with responsible natural resource use. She has collaborated with architects, engineers and project stakeholders alike in the creative process of integrated building solutions, shaping design with her expertise in dynamic thermal simulations and her ability to trim complex datasets into simple, effective messages. Her portfolio includes custom tools and clever communication methods for the design of advanced façade and mechanical systems, particularly those enabling natural ventilation.

Linda’s fascination with how passive and active systems can engage people to connect with their environment is especially demonstrated in her work on several academic campuses, including the North Campus Residence Hall at the University of Chicago and the new Science & Engineering Laboratory at Harvard University.

As a Design Performance Executive at Google, her projects focused more on strategy and included

  • co-creation of a framework for Owner’s requirements for building performance: energy, carbon, water, human experience (access to natural light and clean air).

  • improvement of building designs to capitalize on sustainable strategies, by integrating innovative systems in facade and mechanical designs.

  • development of Technical Analysis Guidelines for Energy and Comfort Modeling which streamline and optimize the role of analytics from Concept through Commissioning phases

  • informing Leadership strategy on capital investments and corporate sustainability goals by articulating opportunity based on deep technical studies

  • leading technical research focused on the intersection of technology and user experience, including portfolio-wide energy and comfort studies and vetting products for efficiency, performance, and scalability
